EMERSON, N.J. — There's a new traffic light in Emerson, and it only took 47 years to get installed.
Nearly 47 years to date, the Bergen County Department of Public Works authorized the design of a traffic light on Lincoln Boulevard.
This week, that light was installed.
"In the letter, we see that the county had offered to construct a traffic light at Lincoln Boulevard back in 1970," Mayor Lou Lamatina said of the Aug. 26, 1970 letter.
