Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble announced that from 7 a.m. through noon beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 12, Commerce Street will be closed until Monday, Sept. 17. During the festivities, there will be no vehicular traffic between Downing Drive and Kear Street.

The Commerce Street and Hanover Street intersection in front of the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department will also be closed temporarily at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night to allow the procession of San Gennaro to "stroll down 'San Genarro Way' to kick off festivities."

Highlights of the five-day event included: traditional Italian foods such as zeppoles and sausage and pepper, a ferris wheel, red, green and white light arches, a procession with a statue of the saint, and performances from live bands.

The Yorktown Police Department noted that motorists should "take it slow out there on the road, and let's all have a nice day out there."
