Four Pace Athletes Make Conference Academic Team

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Four Pace University student-athletes made the Northeast-10 Conference Spring 2012 All-Academic Team.

Softball senior Lauren Bell made the All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year. Bell earned a 3.65 grade point average in her final semester as a childhood education major. She ended her career at Pace with a senior season in which she hit .333, drove in 23 runs and hit six home runs.

Men’s lacrosse team captain John Kolesar finished his final semester at Pace with a 3.47 GPA and earned a degree in criminal justice from the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. He had 23 goals and 28 assists for the Setters this past season. Kolesar was also a member of the Criminal Justice Honor Society.

Kolesar’s co-captain, Pete Nieporent, ended his senior year at Pace with a 3.43 GPA in his final semester. He earned a degree in finance from the Lubin School of Business. Nieporent caused 21 turnovers and picked up 19 ground balls for the Setters in his final season.

Sophomore track and field athlete Patrick Schreiner made the All-Academic Team for the first time. He finished with a 3.85 cumulative GPA in his sophomore year and majors in criminal justice in the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. Schreiner placed in the Top 25 in Division II for the discus event and set two school records for Pace in that event. His made his best throw of the season at the West Point Open with a distance of 50.54 meters.

Student-athletes must be sophomores or older to qualify for the NE-10 All-Academic Team and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or more. Outstanding athletic achievement is another major factor. A committee of athletic administrators and faculty athletic representatives from NE-10 schools selected the honorees.
