Pleasantville Woman Victim Of Phone Scam

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - A 92-year-old Pleasantville woman reported to police that she was conned out of $369 as the result of a phone scam.

On Wednesday around 5 p.m., a unknown male reportedly called her home and said she had won $960 from Publisher's Clearing House and she had to wire money to a man in Ohio to claim her prize, police said.

The woman reported that another man calling himself "John Peterson" called her house two hours later telling her she had won a 2012 Mercedes in addition to the $960, police said. The woman reportedly wired $369 through Western Union at A&P in Thornwood.

After reporting the incident to police, another man reportedly called her house again Thursday morning requesting more money and her social security number, police said. The woman reportedly told the man that police were investigating them and to not call any further.
