Five Teenagers Nabbed In Thefts Of Cars In Westchester

Five teenage residents of a residential treatment center in Westchester are behind bars after allegedly stealing two cars.

Police in Dobbs Ferry received a report at approximately 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 of two cars that had been stolen from a Hatch Terrace residence. With an assist from Chevrolet On-Star and BMW customer service, detectives were quickly able to locate both vehicles.

Investigators said that units were dispatched to Manhattan, which led to the arrest of one man and the recovery of the two stolen cars.

The following day, on Aug. 13, the investigation, led by members of the Dobbs Ferry Police Detective Division, five residents of the Children’s Village Child Care Facility were arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property.

Among those charged include:

  • Tommy Cruz, 17;
  • Ismael Pereya, 18;
  • Jermaine Bailey, 18;
  • Kenniel Thomas; 19;
  • Horace Allen, 18.

Police noted that Cruz was charged in a previous case from last month and Bailey has two active warrants out for his arrest in New York City.

The five teens were remanded to the Westchester County Department of Justice and are due to appear in Dobbs Ferry Court on Thursday. Police said that the investigation is ongoing, with further arrests expected to be announced.
