PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Nearly 500 residents in Pleasantville lost power Monday night as Hurricane Sandy's winds began to blow.
An estimated 486 residents out of 3,338 in Pleasantville were without power Monday evening, according to Con Edison reports. Authorities said the height of the storm was expected to hit the area later in the evening, but that intermittent power outages could be expected all day Monday and Tuesday.
"At this point, any outages are going to be storm related," said Allan Drury, Con Edison spokesperson. "We're seeing outages being reported throughout New York City and throughout Westchester."
With high winds hitting the area, Con Edison officials said they were uncertain when power would be restored to customers.
"We're restoring people now and we'll continue to do so as long as conditions are safe for us to be out there," Drury said. "With all of the outages, we will do our best to work as quickly as possible to restore power as long as those repairs can be made safely."
