The paper's first edition, which covered Mount Kisco and Pleasantville ran on Sept. 11, 2007.
Today, Examiner Media publishes every Tuesday The Examiner, which covers Mount Kisco, Pleasantville, Mount Pleasant and Chappaqua, the Putnam Examiner, the White Plains Examiner and the Northern Westchester Examiner, which covers Yorktown, Ossining, Peekskill, Cortlandt, Buchanan, Croton, and Somers, while also posting news to its website, www.theexaminernews.com.
Publisher Adam Stone celebrated the 10th anniversary and 523rd issue in a column called "Renewing The Contract With Our Communities."
"Our central duty is to report the news so residents of our communities can possess a common set of facts, enabling them to engage in intelligent debate," Stone said. "It’s a particular privilege to highlight local stories that might not otherwise be told.
In its debut editorial, The Examiner said they were here to tell you what's happening in your town.
"We’re still here, still vying to live up to those lofty goals, still examining your communities," Stone said. "More than anything, it’s a testament to you, the reader, and your passion for local news. So, to put it simply, thank you for everything. Keep on reading and we’ll keep on writing."
