The Fine Grind: Mike and Alicia Love, owners of the fast, friendly and funky little café, don’t just talk the talk, they walk the walk. Highly committed to sustainability and giving back to the planet, they travel the world to source their beans directly from farmers.

Mike, a retired chef, is in charge of the roastery and judges prestigious tasting competitions as well as teaches about coffee at a local college. Alicia, a counselor by trade, has worked for such organizations as Global Volunteers, once helped build a community center in Costa Rica, and, with Mike, helped found Westchester Taste of Relief, that raised thousands for 9/11 victims.

Most Popular Brew: While Coffee Lab’s French Roast is a reliable go-to, say customers, its “Doghouse” blend is what really warms the caffeine-loving cockles of their hearts with its combo of light- and dark-roasted beans from Costa Rica and Guatemala and notes of dark chocolate and molasses. The “Circus Dog,” which blends Brazilian, Indian, and Nicaraguan coffees into a heavenly caramely drink, comes in a close second. Baked goods from local companies are also served.
