Aunt B's Yogurt Bar Brings Treats To Pleasantville

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Aunt B's Yogurt Bar officially opened its doors to the public Tuesday afternoon and Pleasantville residents wasted no time in satisfying their sweet tooth.

"People have been waiting and waiting for this," said Bob Loeb, who co-owns the store with his wife, "Aunt B" Bobbie Loeb. The store has been in the works since February, Loeb said.

The store, which is across from the Jacob Burns Film Center at 351 Manville Road, is the second for the couple, who also own Aunt B's Yogurt Bar in Somers. According to Loeb, the Pleasantville store has an even wider variety of flavors and toppings.

"What happens is that they’ll go ‘oh you don’t have that flavor anymore? When will you bring it back?’ So we were like, we got to get more machines," Loeb said. "So we ended up getting 24 different varieties, which is really cool."

Among the flavors are cappuccino, vanilla cake batter, apple pie a la mode, caramel mint cookie, and Loeb's favorites, peanut butter and coconut. The yogurt can be topped off with M&M's, Oreos, jelly beans, sprinkles, and more. The yogurt bar is mostly self-serve, with customers filling their own cups. After assembling the ideal treat, the cups are weighed and then the customers pay.

Loeb believes customers will come to Aunt B's for the yogurt, but will end up staying for the atmosphere.

"We try to make it fun,” he said. "My business was the insurance business. This is my hobby. This is the fun part. ... We’re having a good time."

Aunt B's Yogurt Bar will be open during the summer on Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aunt B's will also have a magician every Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
