WESTCHESTER, N.Y. – More than 50 Westchester County runners took on the challenging course of the legendary Boston Marathon Monday and finished the race despite the heat and difficult conditions.

Hartsdale’s Brian Wilantowicz, a physical therapist at Bronxville’s Lawrence Hospital, took on the 80-degree plus race temperature and ran a respectable 3:24.29.

“We were dousing ourselves with water even before the race started,” Wilantowicz said. “I knew it wasn't going to be a day for a personal best and I just paced myself. I learned from 2004 when the temperature was 86 degrees; I had hard time finishing that year.”

Jonathan Frieder of Hartsdale was one of the top Westchester finishers, running the course in a sparkling 2:50.05, while Sleepy Hollow’s Timothy Kuklis recorded a 2:54.17 and Irvington’s John Carron ran the race in 2:55.34.
