According to spokesperson Jeanntte Boccini, 423 swimmers, many kayakers and volunteers participated in the Long Island sound swim from Larchmont Yacht Club to Larchmont Shore Club.
"So far, there have been eight swims, and the total raised for cancer research, prevention and treatment is $1,150,000," Boccini said. "We have one more swim this coming weekend at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, and people are still contributing, so hopefully that number will go even higher."
Westchester residents participated in pool swims at local clubs and town pools, including Westchester Country Club in Harrison, Chappaqua Swim & Tennis Club in Chappaqua, Coveleigh Club in Rye, The New York Athletic Club in Pelham, Orienta Beach Club in Mamaroneck, Lakeside Field Club in North Salem; the Open Water Swim in the Long Island Sound. An event will take place at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester on Saturday, Aug. 2.
