PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Brittany Shields of Cold Spring posted her second straight double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Pace womens basketball team opened its Northeast-10 Conference schedule with a 62-46 win over the Le Moyne Dolphins.
The Setters, who improved to 2-0 and 1-0 in the NE-10, started strong and grabbed a 14-4 lead in the first five minutes of play. The Dolphins rallied to tie the score at 18-18 at the seven minute mark, but Pace scored the final five points of the half to lead 27-22 at the half.
Pace extended its lead to 45-32 early in the second half and 56-40 with 4:23 left in the game.
Maral Javadifar (Flushing, N.Y.) netted 12 points and three rebounds, Carol Johnson (New City, N.Y.) added 11 points and five rebounds and freshman Emily Armstrong (Fairfield, Conn.) came off the bench to hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with nine points and three rebounds.
The Setters are back in action on Tuesday at Springfield, Mass. for a Northeast-10 Conference game against the Yellow Jackets of American International College at 5:30 p.m.
