Pleasantville Grad Is College Track Rookie Of Week, Sizzles In 3,000-M Run

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Drew Dorflinger, Pleasantville High School Class of 2016 and a member of the PHS 4x800 NYS Championship team was named the Rookie of the Week on Tuesday by the Patriot League.

Dorflinger, a freshman at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., received the honor after a strong performance at the Nittany Lion Challenge.

Running in the 3,000-meter race for the first time in a Bison uniform, Dorflinger finished third in a field of 14 runners with a time of 8:27.42. His time is tied for fifth-fastest in the Patriot League and is the top mark by a freshman, said team officials.

The team went up against some top competition during the meet, including No. 15 Cornell, No. 20 Penn State, Connecticut, Central Connecticut, Maryland, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, and Villanova, reported team officials.
