Pleasantville Boys Edge Croton Again in Rematch

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Pleasantville boys’ basketball team defeated Croton for the second time in three weeks, this time by a single point, in a 48-47 victory at Croton-Harmon High School.

Croton (11-3) trailed by 14 points late in the game but climbed back to within a point before losing. The rematch followed the same scenario as the earlier meeting, when the Panthers led by 17, let Croton came back and won 68-65 on a three-point goal that snapped a 65-65 tie with 15 seconds left on the clock.

"Pleasantville is a very good team,” Croton coach Bill Thom said. “They have balance. The first time we played (Glen) Robinson had only five and then (he had) 16 today.  We gave up 25 to (Charlie) Montgomery the first game and only allowed him four points tonight. (Jack) Eisenberg is a steady point guard who runs their team nicely.”

Pleasantville (11-2) got a strong effort from Robinson, who scored 16 points to lead the team in scoring. Eisnenberg added 10 points and Nick Greto had nine for the Panthers.

The Tigers trailed 45-38 with four minutes remaining before closing the gap to a single point.

Ian Thom led all Tigers scorers with 18 points, including three 3-pointers, and teammate Aaron Thompson added 10.

Rob Simmons had a team-high six rebounds and Wes Turner and Thompson had five rebounds apiece.
