Pleasantville Baseball Outhits Hastings

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Right-hander Chris Leonard pitched five innings in relief Tuesday to lead visiting Pleasantville an 11-5 victory over Hastings at Burke Estate Field.

Leonard, who relieved starter Louis Angiolillo and allowed eight hits while striking out five, allowed three runs and kept the Panthers in a close game until the fifth inning when the visitors erupted for five runs to extend a 4-3 lead to 9-3.

The Panthers ran their early season record to 2-0 having beaten Eastchester in the season opener, while the Yellow Jackets evened their record at 1-1 after opening the season with a victory over Edgemont last week.

The Panthers pushed the lead to 10-3 through six innings before Nick Gross hit a two-run homer run for Hastings to cut the lead to 10-5.

Danny Schulman had two hits and three runs batted in for Pleasantville, Gianni Decosta drove in two runs and Matt Cecchetelli added two hits for the Panthers.

Jake Katezenberg had three hits for and Brian Schoen added two hits for the Jackets.
