Pace Women's Basketball Tripped by Dowling

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace women’s basketball team came up short Sunday in 70-67 non-conference loss to visiting Dowling College.

Pace fell to 7-2 on the season, while Dowling remained undefeated at 7-0.

Brittany Shields recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Kerri White finished with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals. Brianna Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) had 11 points, five boards and four steals, while Carol Johnson tallied 10 points and four assists for the Setters.

Dowling opened a 13-7 lead on the Setters but Pace answered with a 9-0 run. Kerri White (Flushing, N.Y.) hit a 3-pointer and Carol Johnson (New City, N.Y.) hit a pair of free throws and a lay-up as the Setters took a 16-13 lead and led 36-31 at halftime

Pace would add to its halftime lead as it would pull ahead by seven points at 48-41 with 13:37 left in the game. The Golden Lions used a 9-0 burst to take a three-point lead at 53-30 with 8:22 left in the game. Pace made a comeback as White hit a 3-pointer to draw within 66-63 with just over a minute to play, but could not overcome the Lions.

The Setters are back in action on Saturday at home against the Greyhounds of Assumption College at the Goldstein Fitness Center at 1:30 p.m.
