Pace Women Roll to Fourth Straight Victory

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Brittany Shields led the way with 18 points and six rebounds Sunday as the Setters won their fourth straight game 71-53 over the Chargers of New Haven.

The Setters improved to 4-0 on the season and 3-0 record in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Chargers fall to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Shields, of Cold Spring and Haldane High School, finished with 15 points and two assists while White, Carol Johnson (New City, N.Y) and Kera Bretney (Bridgetown, Barbados) contributed eight points apiece. Maral Javadifar (Flushing, N.Y) led the Setters with nine total rebounds.

Pace started the game off strong going up on the Chargers 16-6 within the first six minutes of the game. The Chargers, however, recovered to take their largest lead of the game with 5:56 to go in the half and went up 35-29 at halftime.

The Setters opened the second half on an 11-0 run to jump in the lead 40-35 as Shields had four points while Kerri White (Flushing, N.Y.) capped off the run with a three-pointer.

The Setters return to play Wednesday at Southern Connecticut for an NE-10 game at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
