PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The Pace women’s basketball team has been selected to finish in fourth place in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason coaches’ poll as determined by the 16 NE-10 coaches.

The Setters, who finished  the 2010-11 at 24-9 overall and 15-7 in the conference, earned 176 points and were ranked behind Bentley with 225 points, Franklin Pierce with 208 and Assumption with 196 points.

Last year’s team earned the sixth seed in the NCAA Division II tournament last March but defeated N. 3 seed Franklin Pierce and No. 2 seed Holy Family before falling to top-seeded Bentley in the Sweet 16.

Senior guard Carol Johnson (New City, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) led the team with 2.4 assists per game.

Pace tips off its season against the University of Connecticut in an exhibition game at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. on Wednesday Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. and begins the regular season on Sunday, November 13 with a road game against the University of Bridgeport at 6 p.m.
