Pace Women Edged by Stonehill College

A final push fell just short Saturday as the visiting Pleasantville's Pace women’s basketball team was edged 48-47 by Stonehill College in a 48-47 loss to the Stonehill College Skyhawks in Northeast-10 Conference action at Easton, Mass.

The Setters fell to 15-4 overall and 12-3 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks improve to 10-9 and 6-9 in conference play.

Brittany Shield led all Pace scorers with 14 points and 16 rebounds and Kerri White added 12 points, including a 30point goal that drew the Setters to within a point with 1.4 seconds remaining in the game.

The Setters built a 21-10 lead midway through the opening half behind a pair of White three-pointers. The Skyhawks rallied and pulled even at 23-23 and led 28-27 lead at halftime.

Pace trailed by five points early in the second half but managed to chip away and pull to within two points at 46-44 on a Shields lay-up with just over a minute on the clock.

The Setters are back in action Tuesday, when they host American International College for a Northeast-10 Conference game at 5:30 p.m.
