Pace Swimming Finishes NE-10 Championships With Record Bests

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. --  The Pace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams had record-breaking times in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Sunday, Feb. 9 at Southern Connecticut State University.

The women's swimming and diving team concluded one of its best runs with a podium finish and record best with 545 points. Assumption College, Worcester, Mass., won the competition with a score of 818 points.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Siriano started the day for Pace with a second place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:58.73. Siriano dropped more than 30 seconds from her previous best time in the event.

Kaitlyn Lynch was named the women's swimming championship most valuable athlete for her strong efforts. Lynch won three golds claiming the 50 free, 100 fly and 100 back. She set the conference championship record in the 50 free and recorded three school records along with two NCAA provisional qualifying times during the meet.

The men's swimming and diving team concluded its run at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Sunday with two podium finishes and two school records. Overall, the Setters finished fifth out of seven teams, with Southern Connecticut State University finishing first with 912 points.

Senior Derek Slayton broke his school record in the 200-yard breaststroke, with a time of 2:04.62 and finished second.

Pace will compete in the Metropolitan Conference Championships at Rutgers University on Friday, Feb. 14 through Sunday, Feb. 16.
