Pace Men Overcome New Haven with Closing Run

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- The home-standing Setters scored the final 10 points over the last five minutes of play and outran New Haven 55-45 in Northeast-10 Conference game Sunday.

Pace improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the NE-10, while the Chargers fall to 2-2 and 1-2 in conference play.

The Setters built an early 18-9 lead as Kevin Clark (Dunmore, Pa.) hit three free throws midway through the opening half. The Chargers answered with a 12-0 run to jump in the lead at 21-18 with five and a half minutes to play.

The lead changed hands 11 times in the second half and the score was tied at 45-45 with five minutes remaining until the Setters locked down on defense and responded by scoring the final 10 points of the game. Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, Va.), who led the Setters with 18 points and added five rebounds, put the Setters up for good with a lay-up at the 4:24 mark.

Delroy Daley (Bronx, N.Y.) and Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, Md.) both went 2-for-2 at the free throw line in the final 1:25 seal the win for the Setters.

Pace returns to action Wednesday at New Haven, Conn. for a Northeast-10 Conference game against Southern Connecticut at 7:30 p.m.
