CityParks Honors Pleasantville Tennis Club Pro Steve Owens

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Steve Owens, head pro at the Pleasantville Tennis Club, will be honored Sept. 1 by the CityParks Foundation at its annual benefit during the U.S Open.

Owens has had a long career teaching tennis, working for many years with legendary teacher Nick Bollettieri. He has worked with many famed tennis players, including Andre Agassi, Yannick Noah and Brad Gilbert. Owens has been a longtime supporter of CityParks Tennis, a nonprofit organization that supplies courts, equipment and lessons to New York City youngsters who otherwise would not have the opportunity to play tennis.

Former honorees include Rod Laver, Mats Wilander, Chris Evert, Virginia Wade and John McEnroe. McEnroe and Billie Jean King are co-chairs for the affair, which is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 1.
