WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Westchester Community College students on the college’s events board won the region’s top award for a student activities group. Students from White Plains, Port Chester, Scarsdale and Mount Vernon were among the group.

The National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) Northeast Conference named the Westchester Events Board (WEB) as the recipient of the 2013 Excellence in Programming Award. Westchester Community College was recognized by NACA for having the best student run programming board and student events in the Northeast region of the U.S.

In attendance at the recent awards ceremony were more than 1,200 individuals representing 160 regional institutions. Sixteen schools were named finalists for the awards and were invited to present on-site. Westchester was the only community college in the finals.

Westchester C students impressed the judges with their professional presentation demonstrating the programming board’s outstanding operating structure, adherence to mission, and ability to plan, promote, execute and assess quality programs to serve the diverse student body.

The student presenters included White Plains resident and WEB President Jessica Gramajo; Mount Vernon's , Imani Jackson (WEB vice president for Programming), and Scarsdale's Raisza Latif (WEB vice president for Marketing).

They were joined at the Conference by Port Chester's Yesenia Ruiz (WEB Evening & Family Events chair), Harrison Greenway (WEB Film vice chair, Piermont resident), Sebasjon Larsen (WEB vice chair of Special Events, Armonk resident) and Kevin Gonzalez (WEB Films chair, Bronx resident).
