Pleasantville Schools Give Back Unused Snow Day

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - An unused snow day was put back into the school calendar by the Pleasantville Union Free School District on Tuesday, giving students an extra vacation day in May.

"Believe it or not, this is the first year, in my memory, where we did not close the school for any weather event," said Schools Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter. "The additional day that we will be adding is Tuesday, May 29."

Pleasantville is one of the few districts around Westchester that was not affected during the October snowstorm, when power outages forced many to use multiple snow days before winter hit.
