Pleasantville Psychology Director Receives Leadership Award

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Carolyn McGuffog, Director of Educational Services for the Pleasantville School District, will be honored with the the New York Association of School Psychologists' (NYASP) Gil Trachtman Leadership Award in School Psychology at a luncheon on Friday, Oct. 25.

The award recognizes “a school psychologist who has made a significant contribution to the field of School Psychology by virtue of teaching, research or supervision.”

McGuffog was nominated by her colleague, Pleasantville High School Psychologist Debra Green. Green's nomination was supported by fellow administrators and parents alike. 

“Dr. McGuffog’s innovation, leadership and proactive stance towards delivery of services are unparalleled,” Tara Klein, co-founder and past president of the district’s Special Education PTA said in a statement.

Bedford Road School principal Peggy Galotti also praised McGuffog for her dedication.

“I have worked with Carolyn for the past twenty one years and she is without a doubt one of the most innovative and brightest professionals in the field of education,” Galotti said in a statement. 

The award luncheon will be part of the NYSAP's annual conference that is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in White Plains from Thursday, Oct. 24 through Saturday, Oct. 26.
