PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Scott Johnson is the Pleasantville Union Free School District's 2013 Teacher of the Year.
The high school English department chair and teacher received the award during last week's Board of Education meeting. Johnson has been teaching in the district for 34 years.
“Every time I step into Scott’s classroom, I [see] the celebration of literature, the love of learning, and the joy, the sheer joy of teaching,” Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter said.
School officials praised Johnson's dedication and passion before declaring April 16 and 17 as “Scott Johnson Day” in Westchester County and Pleasantville, with proclamations from County Executive Rob Astorino, as well as Pleasantville Mayor Peter Scherer and the Board of Trustees.
“It’s just a joy, a real privilege,” Johnson said of his job.
