James McCarthy will perform in the All-National Honors Ensembles Choir on Oct. 28 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn. Each year, the National Association for Music Education and the New York State School Music Association showcase the top high school musicians at their conferences.

McCarthy is one of 673 students from 49 states to gain acceptance into an All-National ensemble, the "best of the best," and only the second PHS student to win this honor.

Sophia Maldonado and Elena Phethean were named as All-State vocalists and will perform at NYSSMA's annual conference in Rochester Dec. 3-6.

Named as All-State alternates were vocalists Marc Darmohraj, Alyssa Kerper, and Sophie Dora Tulchin and instrumentalist Eddie Tu (alto sax).
