Two Pleasantville High School seniors, Samantha Tanner and Sydney Shapiro, are running a blood drive in the high school gymnasium today from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. As of 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, the drive had already received 80 pints of blood.
Tanner and Shapiro are a part of their local American Red Cross chapter based out of White Plains. The students usually hold blood drives in November and May of each year.
This year, the students held a third blood drive on Valentines Day with the help of Bedford Road elementary students due to increased need in the area.
The students were honored with the Pacesetter Award a?t the most recent American Red Cross awards dinner ?f?o?r? their November blood drive,? ??d?u?r?i?n?g? ?w?h?i?c?h???? they received 309 pints of blood, the most??? in Bronx and Westchester.
