PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Pace University welcomed first-year students and returning students for the 2014-15 school year at its annual convocation on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The event was held on the Pleasantville campus at the Goldstein Health and Fitness Center.

This year's speaker was Lubin business professor Melissa Cardon, and the event included welcome from Provost Uday Sukhatme and remarks from Dean for Students Lisa Bardill Moscaritolo.

Cardon gave tips for navigating and thriving in college.

"Surround yourself with people who support your dreams and people who are there for you," said Cardon.

She told a story about a road trip she took in college with her college sweetheart and now husband and compared her experience to a college journey.

Classes began on Wednesday, Sept. 4 for the fall semester at Pace.
