Throughout September, Principal Matt Curran tasked the students with reading a total of 100,000 pages. They quickly surpassed their goal, reaching 177,488 pages. Their reward for reading so much was to watch their teachers get doused with ice-cold water in support of ALS.
As the children gathered in front of the school, eager to watch the challenge, several wore sports jerseys, paying tribute to famed baseball player Lou Gehrig, who died of ALS, which is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
