Westchester's Scavino, Trump Aide, Joins TV Commentators' Spat

Westchester native Dan Scavino, the White House Social Media Director, took to Twitter to proclaim that Sean Hannity "owned" New Canaan's Joe Scarborough during a recent Twitter spat of network news commentators that involved four people and three cable news networks.

Scavino graduated from Yorktown High School and lived in Hopewell Junction before joining Trump's staff in the nation's capital.

The feud started when Scarborough, host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe"  was critical of the performance of President Donald Trump's advisor Stephen Miller on the Sunday morning news shows.

Miller was on the shows to defend Trump's executive order which restricted entry from seven Muslim-majority countries. The order was recently rejected by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. After Trump tweeted his praise for Miller, Scarborough quickly weighed in.

"I hope the president is talking about The Steve Miller Band and not that kid who embarrassed the White House this morning," Scarborough tweeted about the 31-year-old Miller.

But Scarborough wasn't finished mocking Miller.

"Miller was awful on every level," Scarborough tweeted. "When I hear the White House praising him, they sound like they're living in an alternative universe."

Scarborough also mocked the fact that Miller appeared to be sweating from his upper lip. Scarborough, a friend of Trump's, has been critical of Miller and the rollout of the travel ban. Trump is known to be loyal viewer of "Morning Joe."

Hannity, host of his own prime-time show on FOX News, quickly shot back, mocking Scarborough for his low ratings.

"Joe why don't you focus on getting your horrific ratings up," Hannity tweeted. "Steve Miller works 18 hour days serving the country and the president. What do you do? Basically talk to yourself and (co-host) Mika Brezinski. Nobody watches."

Then it was time for Scavino to weigh in.

"Hannity owns Jealous Joe," Scavino tweeted.

Jake Tapper, host of CNN's "The Lead" and "State Of The Union" responded to Scavino, simply tweeting, "Assistant to the president and White House director of social media."

Scavino replied with, " CNN Anchor & 'Chief Washington Correspondent'."

The Trump administration has been especially critical of CNN, frequently labeling it as "fake news" and withholding access.

Scavino has spent more than half of his life working for Trump and was social media director for the campaign. Scavino first met Trump in 1990 when he was a caddie at Briar Hall Golf Club in Briarcliff.

Trump would buy the golf course, rename it Trump National and Scavino rose up the ranks, later becoming executive vice president and general manager.
