Teen Assaults Prompt Mount Pleasant To Demand State Action On RTCs

Following a series of violent incidents involving residential treatment centers in Westchester County, Mount Pleasant Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi made his way to Albany to demand improved safety and security measures at both the Hawthorne Cedar Knolls RTC and the JCCA Pleasantville Cottage School RTC.

Fulgenzi was expected to be joined by Mount Pleasant Police Chief Paul Oliva and Sgt. Marty Greenberg in meetings with New York State Sen. Terrence Murphy regarding the much-maligned, oft-discussed facilities.

The meeting comes on the heels of a pair of situations that saw a teenager sent to jail after being involved in a pair of violent incidents with other Cottage School residents and a mugging of a 68-year-old woman at the Valhalla Metro-North Train Station by runaways from the Cedar Knolls RTC.
