Pleasantville Campaign Donors Favor Obama

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – President Barack Obama continues to edge out Mitt Romney among Pleasantville campaign contributors. As of the end of July, Obama had received nearly three times the number of contributions that Romney has from Pleasantville donors.

Pleasantville residents have made 43 contributions to Obama's and Romney's campaigns in the current voting cycle, according to the Center for Responsive Politics . Those contributions have amounted to $29,462. Of those, Obama has received 32 contributions totaling $15,687 .  Romney received 11 donations totaling $13,775 .

Among the Obama donors is former County legislator and Pleasantville Mayor John Nonna , who has contributed $5,000 so far.

Pleasantville donors have given $200,000 less to presidential candidates this year than in the last general election, when residents poured $277,158 into the 2008 candidates' coffers.

The Center for Responsive Politics is a research group that tracks money in U.S. politics. All political candidates must report the names of donors who contribute more than $200. Individuals are allowed to give up to $2,500 to a political candidate for the primary season and another $2,500 for the general election.
