The emails described offered a glimpse into Clinton's mindset in the days following the attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi in 2012 as well as the hearing conducted on the attack one month later, The New York Times reported.

Clinton has come under fire in recent weeks after it was discovered she used a personal email account, with a server placed in her Chappaqua home to conduct government business while she served as Secretary of State.

Approximately 300 emails were turned over to the House committee for an investigation into the matter, The New York Times said.
