Wrong Car Driven Home From Pleasantville Parking Lot

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - A car was reported stolen Sunday from a Washington Avenue parking lot near Cold Stone Creamery, but police quickly learned that the supposed thief simply drove the wrong car home.

Using a remote starter, the person reportedly started an identical car and accidentally drove it home. Police said the person then returned the car to the parking lot after learning of the mistake. There were no charges.

In other police blotter news:

  • The right side of a vehicle parked at 139 Manville Road was reported to be damaged while parked overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.
  • A Sutton Place resident reportedly found a sick possum under the house's deck at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police said. Animal control agencies were called.
  • A car was reported stolen Thursday from a Bedford Road parking lot near Chase Bank, police said. Police said the driver forgot where the car was parked, and officers reportedly found it in a neighboring parking lot.
