Wanted Man Caught In Stolen Car On I-84 Facing Host Of Charges

An early morning traffic stop in Putnam County led to the arrest of a wanted man who was driving a stolen car on I-84, police said.

State Police troopers in Southeast stopped 26-year-old Bronx resident Earl Allen shortly before 1 a.m.  Wednesday after he committed several vehicle and traffic violations.

During the subsequent traffic stop, troopers determined that the 2017 Dodge Caravan was reported stolen in Illinois, and discovered that Allen was wanted for arrest by the New York City Police Department. At the time of his arrest, Allen was also found to be in possession of “suspicious credit cards and money orders.” His driver's license was also suspended.

Allen has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. Allen was also cited for multiple vehicle and traffic infractions.

Following his arraignment, Allen was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond. He is due back int he Town of Southeast Justice Court to answer te charges later this year.
