Somers Man Drives Drunk, Possesses Marijuana, Yorktown Police Say

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A Somers man was charged with driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of marijuana after Yorktown Police observed him speeding, not having a brake light and failing to maintain a lane early Saturday morning on Greenwood Street.

Edward J. Furdi, a 24-year-old Somers resident, was charged with the misdemeanors and transported to police headquarters, police said. Upon arrival at headquarters, a further investigation revealed he allegedly operating his vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of .18 percent or more, police said.

Furci was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on Sept. 28.
