PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Two Pleasantville Middle School students were approached by a suspicious man acting as a taxi driver Thursday afternoon on the corner of Manville Road and Washington Avenue, according to Pleasantville Police Chief Richard Love.
Police say the man was elderly with a beard and dark hair and was driving a white car with the words 'TAXI' hand painted on the side. The man approached the two boys outside Dunkin Donuts and asked if they wanted a ride, which they declined.
Pleasantville Schools Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter applauded the boys in a statement for making the right decision.
"The students did the right thing; they immediately left the area and reported this to police," Fox-Alter wrote.
Police say they are investigating the incident and have notified area police departments to be on the lookout for the man.
