New Police Chief Takes The Helm In Pleasantville

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Chief Erik Grutzner was officially sworn in as the new hief of the Pleasantville Police Department at the Nov. 14 Village Board meeting.

He succeeds Richard Love who retired recently 

"I still have to pass the test in March, but that is to satisfy Civil Service requirements, so it is pretty official at this point," Grutzner told Daily Voice. He joined the Police Department in 1994, and was promoted to sergeant in 2006. In 2012, Grutzner was promoted to lieutenant..

He received his master's degree in management for public safety and homeland security professionals in 2012.

He is a graduate of the 252nd Session of the FBI National Academy.

Grutzner is a married father of two.
