A 25-year-old Northern Westchester nanny was arrested and charged Thursday after police say she left an 18-month-old in the car while she shopped at CVS in Yorktown.
Allison Cortland of Mohegan Lake was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.
Police received a 911 call about a child being left unattended in a vehicle at the CVS at 2000 Commerce Street. Police were able to remove the child from the vehicle.
The child was crying but unharmed, police said.
After further investigation, they determined Cortland left the child in the vehicle for 11 minutes, police said.
Cortland was transported to police headquarters, while the child was turned over to her mother. A temporary order of protection was issued and Cortland was released on $250 bail. She is due back in court on Nov. 30.
