The New York State Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert for Kenneth Byrne, 78, of Sullivan County has been canceled by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

Byrne, who was located in New Jersey, is safe, authorities said.

A New York State Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert has been issued relating to the disappearance of a 78-year-old Hudson Valley man.

Kenneth Byrne, who has early onset Alzheimer's disease and diabetes and may be in need of medical attention, was last seen in Yulan in Sullivan County at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Byrne, who has gray hair and brown eyes, was driving a 2011 gray Ford Escape with New York registration 612866.

Byrne may have been heading south toward Long Island, according to authorities.

Anyone with information should immediately call state police at (845) 292-6600 or 911.

The alert, issued by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, includes Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Dutchess as well as Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, Columbia, Greene, Nassau and all of New York City.
