MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. - An “alert” Home Depot employee in Hawthorne helped police catch a larceny suspect earlier this week, leading to the arrest of a man from Hartsdale.

On Monday, March 6, police were dispatched to the store for a reported larceny. Upon arrival, an employee was able to provide responding officers with a description of the suspect’s car, which was passed on to local departments.

According to police, a short time later, officers from Greenburgh reported that they had stopped the suspect on Old Tarrytown Road. The 31-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with petit larceny.

Additional items on this week’s Mount Pleasant police blotter include:

  • On March 6, police arrested a 21-year-old man from Yonkers after he was caught taking photographs in a private bathroom at Pace University. The man - who did not attend the university - was charged with unlawful surveillance.
  • On Thursday, March 9, police were busy at the JCCA Pleasantville Cottage School RTC, when a 17-year-old youth from Nyack broke a glass window at the Edenwald School, leading to third-degree criminal mischief charges. While dealing with that incident, police witnessed a 17-year-old from Yonkers at the campus kicked out the glass on a hallway door. He was charged with a felony count of criminal mischief.
