Plunkett, a Tarrytown resident, had been battling cancer and was undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.

Plunkett was an administrator at Plunkett & Jaffe Group for more than 25 years.

She has served in varying capacities in many civic and charitable organizations and institutions including vice chair of the Marymount College Board of Trustees, where she graduated from in 1963. She also served on the Tarrytown Board of Trustees and on the boards of the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital Foundation and AMIC Clearview School.

"She was just a grand lady who touched a lot of people," said Kevin Plunkett, her brother-in-law and Westchester County Deputy County Executive. "She was a very positive person with a great attitude and a great view of life and of her family and friends. She always gave her time to her community and her church."

In April, Plunkett was honored by Stepinac High School "for her accomplishments as a successful business woman, administrator, public servant and an active charitable volunteer," according to Father Thomas Collins, president of Stepinac.

Plunkett's husband, attorney William Plunkett, is founding partner of the Plunkett & Jaffe law firm that in 2006 merged to become the Plunkett & Jaffe Group of the law firm of McKenna, Long and Aldridge.

Plunkett was born in Plantsville, Conn., on Aug. 31, 1941. She married Plunkett on Dec. 18, 1965. She is survived by her six children and 19 grandchildren.

"She will be greatly missed," Kevin Plunkett said. "She was such a positive influence and was always there for her family and friends. She leaves a great legacy."
