Jeanne M. Maroney Of Pleasantville

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Jeanne M. Maroney of Pleasantville died Tuesday, Jan. 27.

She was born in New Haven and was the daughter of John and Evelyn Maroney. She was a graduate of Brown University, which she attended on a full scholarship. She was a writer and editor for most of her life. In midlife, she decided to become more serious about painting and studied painting at the New School, then with Herman Rose. When she moved to Westchester, she studied watercolor with Hugh Gumpel and outdoor landscape with both Elaine Galen and Larry Horowitz. She was primarily a plein air painter and later in life she became interested in still lifes.

A longtime resident of Pleasantville, she had exhibits in the Westchester area for many years. Her work was carried by the Open Studio in upstate Franklin during the summer. She was a member of the Village Gallery of Katonah, where her work could be seen year round for a number of years.
