Born the eldest child to Greg and Adrienne Coleman of Pelham Manor, Coleman attended Prospect Hill Elementary School in Pelham Manor, and Iona Grammar and Iona Preparatory High School in New Rochelle.

He played football for Iona Prep and with his team, won a State Championship. While in high school, Coleman attended many social events but most significant was a dance at Holy Child High School. When he got home that evening, he told his mother that he had met a girl in a sailor hat and he thought that she "may be the one". The couple recently became engaged.

Coleman attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he became involved in the Georgetown Chimes Acapella singing group and performed at many large events.

He graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in computer science in 2014 and worked at Alvarez and Marsal in New York City as a research analyst.

One of his colleagues said: "Every room got better when Ryan entered it."

Coleman enjoyed traveling with his fiance and fishing with his father.

He is survived by his parents, Greg and Adrienne Coleman; his fiancé, Lauretta Purwin; his sister, Emily; his brother, Kevin, and his grandparents Charles and Marie Rizzo of New Rochelle, and Ben and Jackie Coleman of Vida, Oregon.
