Biderman, the president of the Bryant Park Corporation, a nonprofit that manages the park, recently told The New York Times, that his inspiration for the luxe renovation was Brooke Astor, the grande dame of New York society.

The goal, he said, was to create a bathroom that rivaled a powder room in a country estate.

The New York Times reported that when the men's and women's lavatories reopen later this month, they will feature sleek Toto toilets and fixtures, wall tiles in earthy shades, a modern air-conditioning system, fresh flowers, original artwork and attendants. Classical music is also piped in.

The bathrooms have been closed since February.

Biederman is also the President of the 34th Street Partnership and his own private consulting firm, Biederman Redevelopment Ventures.
