Friday, April 27

Book sale: 9 a.m., Mount Pleasant Library. The Friends of the Mount Pleasant Library is sponsoring a book sale with hundreds of bargains for children and adults.

Rummage sale: 9 a.m., Presbyterian Church. Nearly 100 volunteers will gather at the church to hold a rummage sale. According to Barbara Loizeaux, one of the event's organizers, the sale has been carried out annually for more than 50 years. "Many recent immigrants rely on the sale to buy inexpensive clothes and housewares for their families," she said. "We sell antiques, jewelry, books, clothes, housewares, toys, sporting goods, furniture and more."

Tree planting: Noon, in front of A'Mangiare. Pleasantville will be honoring recently retired Department of Public Works Superintendent Stephen Johnson with an Arbor Day tree planting.

Harlem Wizards: 7 p.m., Pleasantville High School. The Harlem Wizards will return to Pleasantville on Friday to take on a competing team of teachers, administrators and village officials.

Westchester Jewish Film Festival: Various times, Jacob Burns Film Center. The center continues its Westchester Jewish Film Festival with movie showings all weekend. Films will be shown at the center until May 2. The list of showings can be viewed at the center's website.

Saturday, April 28

Village cleanup day: 9 a.m to noon, Pleasantville Gazebo. The village is looking for volunteers to help clean up debris and litter during its annual cleanup day.

Book sale: 9 a.m., Mount Pleasant Library. The Friends of the Mount Pleasant Library is sponsoring a book sale with hundreds of bargains for children and adults.

Rummage sale: 9 a.m., Presbyterian Church. The rummage sale will continue into Saturday.
