Weekend Fun in Pleasantville

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – With fall in full swing, this weekend is a great time to get out with the family and enjoy Pleasantville. There are some great events and activities going on, some of which support local groups and schools.

On Friday night, if you’re a frequent crossword puzzle solver, a great way to spend your night may be to head to the Westchester Table Tennis Center for the 15th annual Westchester Crossword Puzzle Tournament. The event is put together and moderated by New York Times crossword editor Will Shortz and all the proceeds from the event support Pleasantville schools through the Pleasantville Fund for Learning group. Entry is $30 for a single and $45 for a pair and it is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

If you’re feeling hungry Saturday morning, head to Pleasantville Middle School cafeteria for the pancake breakfast held by the Pleasantville Rotary Club. The rotary club will be serving all you can eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, tea, and juice from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. The price is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 12.

If you are looking to relax this weekend with a good read, the Mount Pleasant Public Library in Pleasantville is having an ongoing book sale. On Friday, the library will be selling books of all themes from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Saturday night, head to Parkway Field to support Pleasantville High School athletics as the varsity football team battles Briarcliff High School in their annual homecoming game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
