PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. There are many interesting and fun activities going on this weekend in various locations around the village of Pleasantville. These can be a great opportunity to enjoy the crisp fall air and the changing of the leaves with your family and friends. Here is a quick list of some of the events going on.
On Friday night, start your weekend off by going to Paulie's Bar & Grill in Pleasantville for its monthly benefit concert. On the second Friday of every month, Paulie's holds a benefit concert for two not-for-profit charities, Greyston Foundation and Gilda's Club Westchester. Tickets are $10 at the door and go to a great cause that supports community and social services and cancer support. The show starts at 8:30 p.m.
On Saturday morning you might want to head over to the Pleasantville farmers market in the Memorial Plaza parking lot on Marble Avenue. Stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables and other goods for the fall season. The market opens at 8:30 a.m.
After stocking up at the farmers market, take the kids over to the Jacob Burns Film Center to catch a movie classic. The center will be showing "E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial", as part of their Movies for Kids and their Families program. Tickets for children are only $1.
If you're looking for some outdoor activities, head to the Stone Barns Center in Pocantico Hills. There are multiple events going on throughout the day Saturday including egg collecting, beekeeping instruction, and farm tours. For more information, go to the Stone Barns website event calendar.
If you are into art exhibits, Lyndhurst in Tarrytown is currently featuring an outdoor exhibit called "Scarecrow Invasion", which is made of custom scarecrows put together by members of the Westchester community. Recently, the Westlake Middle School 7th grade students had the opportunity to create their own scarecrows based off of the theme "teenage life".
This weekend could be a great time to check out the work of children and students in Mount Pleasant.
