Storm Slows Traffic To A Crawl In Pleasantville

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Tuesday's snowstorm is creating dangerous driving conditions in Westchester County with traffic reduced to a crawl in many spots and numerous reports of accidents.

Two lanes on southbound I-684 were reported blocked near the I-287 interchange at 3:45 p.m.

An accident was reported on I-287 East near Exit 5 (Route 119) in Greenburgh at 3:30 p.m.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, the MTA advised Westchester County commuters to leave work early and finish their commute as early as possible, especially Metro-North riders.

The snow is expected to continue falling till late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Snow accumulations will vary from 3 to 12 inches, with northwestern Westchester expected to see lesser amounts.

Temperatures, which topped out at about 20 degrees, will fall to as low as 4 to 6 degrees overnight, with winds gusting between 15 to 20 miles per hour producing dangerous wind chills as low as -10.
